Thanks Neil, was good to meet you too, sorry I didn't have much time but the turn around between qualifing and the race was a nightmare....
I was hoping to hang onto - i would have quiet happily eaten my words from earlier in the year to take the win for the 'older' cars and the car would have done it, it was just my lack of track time in the car that let me down in the end - also it being my first race weekend of any type in 18 months didn't help - but the class B/HSCC cars are definently upto the job!! |

Chris I agree. Whilst there's room for 2 championships, why not try and develop the ff2000 race at the WHT into a bit of an annual race for all ff2000's. If enough entered could have 2 heats and a final. With a bit of promotion it could become a success and a good support to the main event.
Was planning to do this year's race but unfortunately my car is still not repaired. Hopefully next year along with a few others. |

| What are your thoughts on tyres for next year. Noticed some Yoko's and Zeteck wets on some cars. I think were should all be on the same slick and wet.???. |

I think James might have hit on a very good idea. Get a couple of people to sponsor Historic and Classic trophies, two heats on the Saturday, a bit of a social do on Saturday evening and the final around noon on Sunday.
We would need 40 cars to make it work, but there were about 25 different FF2000 cars in the HSCC and FF2000 races, so it should be possible if the event was attractive enough.
Probably best not to suggest it to the HSCC until they've got the 2010 calendar nightmare sorted, though...
As far as tyres are concerned, it's got to be regulation Avons for wet and dry.
Edit - If we allowed 86 Reynards, we might get a couple more cars as well. |

| I enjoyed seeing the late Martin Snoad's car take the win. Last time I spoke with Martin he was alongside my car on the WHT grid. |

| I'm surprised there's no FF2000 race at the Formula Ford Festival; there was originally and there seems to Sports 2000's, Ford Saloons etc... now so why not FF2000? |

I remember we were a support race at the Festival once about 12 years ago.. seems the ideal event to have us at.... this year the paddock seemed quite empty and the event even included Club F3 (nothing against these boys but they aren't a Ford Formula). It felt like there was time in the programme. |

yeah, i think it was 1999, final round of URS championship that year. kimi raikkonen was even racing in the festival, so that shows you how long ago it was |

I guess if the HSCC and BARC got their act together with the calendar; there would be a greater opportunity for the Historic FF2000 guy's to join in the URS (budgets allowing) championship!!
Also, if they did, it would mean that you could almost race every weekend (making FF2000 more attractive to would be racers) and race at additional circuits (Thruxton / Croft) that the HSCC don't go to. |

I dont think the problem is who or where it is that the race's etc.... are run, but it comes down to a personal persons mind set.
The fact if a driver in a pre 80 car race's in URS/combined race such as was held at the WHT he may only just into the top ten if there where loads of 'Class A' URS cars in the race, where as by racing with the HCSS where there are no 'Class A' the same driver know he can go racing and if he's quick have a shout at a out right win.....
Also the other problem is in respect to the URS Championship is that no Class B can win the championship outright. So even if a Class B car was to win all the races out right in a year the driver still wouldnt win the championship - why race in a championship you can't win outright if your quick enough to win the race outright......
Yeah if the HSCC/Historic FF2000/URS all got together and organised it so that the races where either at the same track or on different weekends on a few drivers could afford to do both Championships or race in all the races. |

One of the reasons behind Iain and I setting up Historic FF2000 was that the earlier cars were always "Class B", or "Invitation", and as such were unlikely to get an outright win.
Regarding the planning of the calendar, the BARC and HSCC did liaise this year to try to minimise clashes, but with so many meetings on the same weekend, the best they could manage in many cases was to get URS on one day and HFF2000 on the other.
As for next year, with no International Circuit available at Silverstone and the uncertainty over Donington, calendar-fixing is unusually difficult. Grahame is hoping to be able to let us know our dates at the AGM. |

…………good point; it had never occurred to me that a class B car couldn’t win the overall championship; is that why Sideway’s Bob (or what every he called himself) entered his Reynard as a class A car? |
